OUT OF HOURS EMERGENCIES

AT WEEKENDS, BANK HOLIDAYS AND OUT OF SURGERY HOURS
TELEPHONE: 01536 760345 or 0844 477 3131

A recorded message will give you instructions for obtaining urgent medical advice. This will usually be the out-of-hours medical service (telephone: 0333 666 4664), which is operated by GPs from local practices on a night and weekend rota.

In most cases the duty doctor will give you advice over the telephone, but if the doctor needs to examine you to assess the problem you will be asked to go to the out-of-hours centre in Kettering where there are appropriate facilities and staff. Waiting times here are considerably shorter than in the A&E department but the out-of-hours service is not equipped to deal with accidents.

If, in the doctor's opinion, a home visit is necessary on medical grounds a doctor will call as soon as possible. The duty doctor will advise you to call an emergency ambulance.
